Google AI Overviews

An Overview can cite you and still send nobody. Motif cannot see that mention. It can see a person who arrived from google.com search, optional query aggregates from Search Console, and a gemini.google.com referrer when the click came from Gemini.

Zero-click is not a tracking bug

If Google answers on the results page, the JavaScript tracker never runs. Empty Motif sessions for a query that shows an Overview means no click, not a broken pixel. Recovering that demand is a content problem.

google.com is not Gemini

A document referrer of google.com or www.google.com is organic search. gemini.google.com is the Gemini assistant channel. Motif will not fold those together because an acronym said 'Google AI'.

Search Console stays aggregate

Optional Search Console import can show queries and pages, including impressions that never became Motif sessions. Motif will not attach a query to a visitor. The weekly brief may cite those figures only when they already exist in the packet.

AI Mode is not a Motif series

Google ships more than one answer surface behind similar UI. Motif does not scrape those surfaces. If a person lands, first touch is the host they came from. If they do not land, Motif is silent.

Do Google AI Overviews send traffic Motif can rank?

Only when a person clicks through. The Overview itself is invisible. A click from google.com is organic. A click from gemini.google.com is Gemini. Neither is a crawler hit.

Can Search Console prove an Overview citation?

No. Search Console is query and page aggregates. It does not label Overview citations, and Motif will not pretend it does.
